We are making electric vehicle parking spots more convenient for residents, visitors, and businesses to reduce carbon footprints.

Gasoline and diesel contribute to over 30 per cent of Kingston's carbon footprint. Electric vehicles can be over 60 per cent cheaper to run and help reduce air pollution, helping our city and the province. Children, in particular, benefit as they are more affected by pollution from gasoline vehicles due to their proximity to exhaust and higher breathing rates.

Chargers run on 220 volts, like a dryer or stove. They can fully charge a vehicle in three-to-six hours, depending on the vehicle model. Many EV owners have a Level 2 charger at home for convenient overnight charging.

Level two charging stations:

    • 1211 John Counter Blvd.
    • Artillery Park Aquatic Centre
    • Belle Park
    • Cataraqui Community Centre
    • Chown Memorial Parking Garage
    • Clarence Street between Wellington and King
    • Emily Street near Richardson Beach
    • Grass Creek Park, at the McLaughlin Woodworking Museum
    • Hanson Memorial Parking Garage
    • Housing and Social Services
    • INVISTA Centre
