Weekly Traffic Report: June 7 - 13

LaSalle Causeway  

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) wishes to advise users that the LaSalle Causeway will be fully closed to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians until further notice.   

Road Closures   

• Albert Street – Princess to 486 Albert – closed until Dec. 31 to accommodate construction activity and staging at 484 Albert St. 
• Graham Avenue – Johnson to Brock – closed June 10 at 7:30 a.m. to June 13 at 4 p.m. for installation of services on Graham Ave. 
• Hillcrest Ave – Kingscourt to Seventh - closed until Sept. 1 for buried infrastructure replacement. Road will be open to local traffic. 
• King Street – Place D’Armes to North End of King – closed until Sept. 30 for the construction of new storm and road bed. Road will be open to local traffic. 
• King Street – Place D’Armes to The Tragically Hip Way – closed June 8 from 7 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. for the Freedom of the City Parade and Ceremony. 
• King Street – Place D’Armes to The Tragically Hip Way – closed June 12 to 14 from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. each day for event related parking and storage at Slush Puppie Place. 
• MacCauley Street – Daly to Rideau Heights Community Centre West Entrance – closed June 8 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for the Inclusive Play Project Fair at the Rideau Heights Community Centre. 
• Market Street – King to Ontario – closed June 8 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Freedom of the City Parade and Ceremony. 
• Montreal Street – Princess to Queen – closed June 9 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for the Montreal Street Vintage Market. 
• Ontario Street – Clarence to Brock – closed June 8 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the Freedom of the City Parade and Ceremony. 
• Sydenham Road – Princess to Crossfield – closed June 12 and 13 for asphalt restoration on on Sydenham Road. 
• Sydenham Street – Princess to Queen – closed until Sept. 27 for Downtown Kingston BIA Activations. 
• The Tragically Hip Way – Ontario to King – closed June 10 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. for a contractor to remove and replace windows at Slush Puppie Place.
• University Avenue – Union to Earl – closed until July 31 for the removal of debris from demolition and concrete deliveries at the Queen’s John Deutsch University Centre project.  

Parking Disruption  

The Hanson Memorial Parking Structure Restoration project is now underway. The work will take place throughout all levels of the building, and will include efforts such as routine structural maintenance, repainting, replacement of waterproofing materials, and upgrades to the building mechanical/electrical systems. The work is planned to begin the first week of February 2024 and conclude in late December 2024.   

The work will be completed in phases to allow the building to remain open to public parking for the duration of the project. It is anticipated that no more than 50% of the available 271 parking spaces will be closed at any time. There is also parking availability at the Chown Memorial and Robert Bruce Memorial parking garages in the two adjacent blocks to the west.  

Other Delays  

• Gardiners Road – at Centennial/Creekford – expect delays while a contractor completes intersection widening, traffic signal upgrades and cycling and pedestrian improvements. 
• Hudson Drive – at Bayridge Public School – expect delays until Jun. 28 as a contractor will be on site to complete upgrades to the school crossing. 
• Hudson Drive – at Hudson Park – expect delays until Jun. 28 as a contractor will be on site to complete upgrades to the bus stop and pedestrian crossing. 
• Maple Lawn Drive – Montreal to East Limit of Maple Lawn – expect delays June 10 to 14 as a contractor will be completing surface treatment. 
• Shannon Road – 6th Concession to Hwy 15 – expect delays June 10 to 14 as a contractor will be completing surface treatment. 
• Union Avenue – at University – expect delays June 11 and 12 from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. each day for contractor to complete work in the manhole.  
• Woodburn Road – Joyceville to Hitchcock – expect delays June 10 to 14 as a contractor will be completing surface treatment.
