Toys for Tickets Returns

The Toys for Tickets program is back this year! This gives residents the opportunity to pay for parking tickets with toys.

From Monday, Dec. 2 until Thursday Dec. 5, toys can be donated, in lieu of money, as payment for parking tickets received between Nov. 1 and Dec. 1 — excluding those received for unauthorized parking in an accessible space. Brochures with program information will be handed out with parking tickets all month long.

“For nearly 20 years, the Toys for Tickets program has helped make the holiday season brighter for children in our community,” says Dan Hazell, Supervisor of Enforcement Services. “We encourage anyone who gets a ticket this month to join in the spirit of generosity by supporting families in need.”

Toys can be donated at the following times and locations:

Monday, Dec. 2 – Thursday, Dec. 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.:

  • City Hall Payment Centre, 216 Ontario Street - Accepts both toys and money for ticket payments.
  • 1211 John Counter Boulevard - Accepts only toys as payment, no credit or debit services available.

Wednesday, Dec. 4 – Thursday, Dec. 5 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.:

  • INVISTA Centre, Room A - Accepts only toys as payment, no credit or debit services available.

Conditions for acceptable toy donations:

  • Toys must be new and unopened
  • Toys requiring batteries or promoting violence will not be accepted
  • The value of the toy must be equal to, or greater than, the value of the ticket received. Receipts must be provided when donating.

Recommended items include games, cars, dolls and stuffed toys that are suitable for children aged 0 to 12-years-old.

Participating in Toys for Tickets is optional, and drivers can choose to pay their parking fines online at CityofKingston.ca/Pay.

Since 2005, Toys for Tickets has collected more than 3,900 toys for children in Kingston. The toys are delivered to a local toy drive in time to be distributed to children in need over the holidays.
