Name a City of Kingston plow!

The “Name Our Plow” campaign is back this year and the City’s Public Works department is looking for your fun and imaginative names to put on the side of one of its snowplows. Submit your cool, creative and Kingston-specific plow names on Get Involved Kingston and you could be seeing it on a City plow this winter.

Submissions will be accepted from Oct. 28 at 12 p.m. until Nov. 12 at 4 p.m., at which point the City will select a short list of names. The community will have the opportunity to vote on their favourite snowplow name from Nov. 18 to Nov. 25 on Get Involved Kingston. The winning name will be revealed on Dec. 9.

In 2023, the Name Our Plow campaign garnered more than 400 name submissions. “Murney Plower” joined the fleet after receiving the most votes from the public.

Snowplowing is serious business in Kingston. We work continuously in the winter to plow more than 1,800km of road lanes and 600km of sidewalks. Learn more about winter maintenance at www.CityofKingston.ca/Snow.

The City of Kingston acknowledges that we are on the traditional homeland of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and the Huron-Wendat, and thanks these nations for their care and stewardship over this shared land.

Today, the City is committed to working with Indigenous peoples and all residents to pursue a united path of reconciliation.
