Learn more about the future of the Culligan Water Park

This summer will be the final operating season for the Culligan Water Park as an outdoor pool. After it closes for the season in the fall, work will begin to build an enclosure over the top of the pool and deck to make it useable all year.

Community members are invited to drop-in anytime between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on April 30 at the Memorial Centre in the lobby to:

  • Review conceptual designs and project information.
  • Ask questions of staff from Recreation & Leisure Services, Facilities Management & Construction Services (FMCS), and the project’s architectural team.
  • Share feedback on the enclosure design elements.
  • Provide input on future programming options for the indoor aquatic space through a short survey.

For those unable to attend in person, all materials—including the survey—will be made available on the Culligan Water Park Enclosure project page on Get Involved Kingston starting April 30. The survey will remain open until October.

Project information boards will be on public display at Culligan Water Park and Artillery Park Aquatic Centre throughout the spring, summer, and early fall, so community members can view them at their convenience.

“We know how important aquatic access is to the community, and right now, pool time is in incredibly high demand,” says Amy Elgersma, Director of Recreation & Leisure Services. “Enclosing Culligan Water Park will allow us to maximize a much-loved facility and offer an additional 3,500 hours of pool time each year. That means more swim lessons, expanded school programs, therapeutic and fitness options, leadership training, and more opportunities for the community to get active and enjoy the water, all year long.”

A follow-up information session will be held once the design is finalized, offering the community a chance to see the updated plans and celebrate progress on this exciting project.

Construction is expected to last throughout 2026 with plans to reopen in 2027. The enclosed pool will retain all of the features of the current outdoor waterpark, including the water slide and lazy river. To learn more and sign up for ongoing project updates please visit Get Involved Kingston.
