Kingston Transit Service Alert – November 23, 2024 – Kingston Nighttime Santa Parade
Kingston Transit and Downtown Kingston are pleased to offer free transit all day on Saturday, Nov. 23!
Kingston’s Nighttime Santa Parade will take place on Saturday, Nov. 23 from 4:30 to 7 p.m., requiring a number of route changes. Please note that Express Routes 601/602, 701/702, and 801/802, as well as Routes 1 & 2 that normally travel north/south past Princess between Sir John A. Macdonald and Ontario will not do so during the Parade, and will be split into two sections at Princess.
ROUTE CHANGES
From 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.:
- Route 1 is separated into two sections, with no service between sections:
- The Montreal St. section operates between Guthrie/Joyce and Queen / Bagot (north side). All Queen / Bagot-bound buses operate as Route 1B Downtown during this time.
- The Union St. section operates between St. Lawrence College and Brock / Barrie. All Brock / Barrie-bound buses operate as Route 1B Downtown during this time.
- Route 2 is separated into two sections, with no service between sections:
- The Division St. section operates between Guthrie/Joyce and Queen / Bagot (north side). All Queen / Bagot-bound buses operate as Route 2B Downtown during this time.
- The Union St./Calvin Park section operates between Kingston Centre and Brock / Barrie. All Brock / Barrie-bound buses operate as Route 2B Downtown during this time.
- From Princess / Sir John A. Macdonald, Route 4 Downtown to service Brock / Barrie via Sir John A. Macdonald (servicing temporary stop at Sir John A. Macdonald / Elmwood), Johnson, Clergy, and Brock
- From Brock / Division, Route 4 Cataraqui Centre to service Kingston Centre via Brock, Sir John A. Macdonald, and Bath
- From Kingston Centre, Route 16 Bus Terminal to service Bus Terminal via Princess, Sir John A. Macdonald, and John Counter
- From Elliott / Division, Route 16 Train Station to service Kingston Centre via Division, John Counter, Sir John A. Macdonald, and Bath
- From Elliott / Division, Route 18 Train Station to service Brock / Barrie via Division, John Counter, Sir John A. Macdonald, Johnson, Clergy, and Brock
- From Brock / Barrie, Route 18 Train Station to service Queen’s / Kingston General Hospital via Brock, University, and Stuart
- Route 31/32 is separated into three sections, with no service between sections:
- The King St. section operates between Providence Care Hospital and King / West
- The Concession/Stephen St. section operates between Concession / Leroy Grant and Queen / Bagot
- The Queen Mary Rd. section operates between Kingston Centre and St. Lawrence College
- From Princess / Sir John A. Macdonald, Express 501 Downtown to service Brock / Barrie via Sir John A. Macdonald, Johnson, Clergy, and Brock
- Express Route 501 will not service Princess / Kingston Centre stop; board buses at Sir John A. Macdonald / Elmwood
- From Brock / Barrie, Express 501 Cataraqui Centre to service Queen’s / Kingston General Hospital via Brock, University, and Stuart
- Express 501 will not service Queen’s / Kingston General Hospital stop on Stuart; board buses at University / Stuart
- From Barrie / Bagot, Express 502 Downtown to service Brock / Barrie via Barrie, Clergy, and Brock
- From Brock / Barrie, Express 502 Cataraqui Centre to service Kingston Centre via Brock, Sir John A. Macdonald, Bath, and Kingston Centre driveway, resuming regular route at Princess / Kingston Centre
- Express 601/602 to operate between Innovation / Highway 15 and Queen / Bagot only. Express 601/602 will not service Queen’s / Kingston General Hospital.
- Express Routes 701/702 will be separated into two sections, with no service between sections:
- The Division St. section operates between King’s Crossing North and Queen / Bagot
- The Brock/Johnson/Bath/Gardiners section operates between Cataraqui Centre and Brock / Barrie. All Brock / Barrie-bound buses operate as Express 702B Downtown during this time.
- Express 801/802 to operate between Montreal St. Park & Ride and Queen / Bagot only. Express 801/802 will not service Queen’s / Kingston General Hospital.
- Express 801/802 operates every 30 minutes during this time, departing Queen / Bagot at :05 and :35 past the hour.
STOP CHANGES
From 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.:
- All stops on Princess between Sir John A. Macdonald and Ontario (including all Express Route 501/502 stops) will be out of service.
- All Downtown Transfer Point platforms will be out of service. Buses will board at the following temporary locations:
- Brock / Barrie: Express 501/502, Express 701, and Routes 1 St. Lawrence College, 2 Kingston Centre, and 18 Train Station
- Queen / Bagot (south side): Express 602 and Route 32 Concession / Princess
- Queen / Bagot (north side): Express 702, Express 802, and Routes 1 Montreal St. and 2 Division St.
- Route 1 Montreal St. buses will not service the stop at Bagot / Ordnance. Board at Express 802 shelter at Montreal / Ordnance (east side).
- Route 2 Division St. and Express 702 will service an accessible temporary stop on Queen (north side), west of Barrie.
- Routes 2 and 4 will not serve the stop at Division / Princess.
- Express 501 will not service Princess / Kingston Centre, but will service the Route 16 stop at Sir John A. Macdonald / Elmwood.
- Route 4 Downtown will not service Princess / Sir John A. Macdonald or Kingston Centre, but will service the Route 16 stop at Sir John A. Macdonald / Elmwood.
- Route 16 will not service stops on Kingscourt or Concession.
- Route 18 will not service stops on Division.
- Route 31/32 will not service stops on Ontario, West, or at Barrack / King.
- Bath / Westdale stops out of service.
