Holidays to affect City and Utilities Kingston services
City of Kingston and Utilities Kingston services and facilities will be affected by the holidays as outlined below.
Christmas and New Year’s holiday green bin, garbage and recycling schedule
There is no collection on Dec. 25 and 26. Collection will occur two days after your regularly scheduled collection.
Kingston Area Recycling Centre (KARC): The recycling depot and yard waste site will be open December 24th from 8am to 4pm and closed Dec. 25 and 26. Real Christmas trees (ornaments and tinsel removed) can be dropped off for free at KARC, 196 Lappan’s Ln.

Kingston Transit schedule

- Christmas Eve, Dec. 24: Regular weekday service.
- Christmas Day, Dec. 25: No service.
- Boxing Day, Dec. 26: Sunday service, except Route 18 which will operate on its regular weekday schedule.
Queen’s University routes will not run during the holiday break. Route 20 service will be paused Dec. 21 – Jan. 8 and Route 17 service will be paused Dec. 22 – Jan. 8.
Kingston Access Bus services schedule
- Christmas Eve, Dec. 24: Regular service and hours, 6 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. Office open, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Dialysis passengers will be scheduled according to their modified schedule.
- Christmas Day, Dec. 25: No on-road service. Office closed.
- Boxing Day, Dec. 26: Limited on-road service, 6 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. Office open from 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Municipal office/Facilities schedules
- Administrative offices, including Housing and Social Services on Montreal Street: Closed Dec. 24, 25 and 26.
- Provincial Offences Court at 362 Montreal St. will be closed Dec. 25 and 26.
- Utilities Kingston and Kingston Hydro: Open on Dec. 24 from 8 a.m. until noon and closed on Dec. 25 and 26. Utilities Kingston customers experiencing a utility emergency such as a gas smell, power outage, or water main break, please call the 24-hour emergency line at 613-546-1181. - Kingston Frontenac Public Library branches: Closed Dec. 24 – 26.
- INVISTA fitness centre and ice pads: On Dec. 24, all programming, fitness centre and the front desk will close at 2 p.m. Closed Dec. 25, 26 and Jan. 1. - Artillery Park Aquatic Centre: On Dec. 24 and Dec 31 the front desk and building will close at 2 p.m. Closed Dec. 25, 26 and January 1.
- Rideau Heights Community Centre: Closed Dec. 24, 25, 26, 31 and Jan 1
- Kingston East Community Centre: Closed Dec. 24, 25, 26, 31 and Jan 1
- Kingston Grand Theatre Box Office: Box Office will be closed Dec. 23 - 26 at 4:30 p.m. Tickets and gift certificates are always available online at KingstonGrand.ca. - PumpHouse Museum: Closed Dec. 22 – Jan. 2.
- Market Wing Cultural Space: Closed Dec. 18 – Jan. 2.
