Get ready to lace up at the Mike Lee Insurance Ice Rink

The Cataraqui Community Centre Arena has received a boost thanks to a naming rights sponsorship agreement with Mike Lee Desjardins Insurance.

Following approval from City Council, the Mike Lee Insurance Ice Rink will bear the name for a period of five years.

“We are excited to partner with Mike Lee Desjardins Insurance, a local business dedicated to enhancing health and wellness in our community,” says Amy Elgersma, Director of Recreation and Leisure Services. “Sponsorships like this one play a crucial role in helping the City provide affordable and accessible recreational opportunities for residents.”

The Cataraqui Community Centre is a recreation facility in the northwest of Kingston and features two ice pads, four community rooms and the adjacent Cloverdale ball diamonds. The Mike Lee Insurance Ice Rink is an NHL-sized pad with ice in place from July to April and dry floor from May to the end of June. The Kinsmen Ice Pad is Olympic sized with ice from September to March and dry floor from April to the end of August.

Mike Lee Insurance is an exclusive Desjardins Insurance Provider (Agent) with a team of five (Elissa Fagan, Ian Stoness, Andrew Marshall, Jay Lane and Megan Toulouse). They provide home, auto, business, commercial buildings, life and living benefit insurance. They are proud supporters of Kingston Area Minor Hockey and support many charitable organizations throughout the city, including the Kingston East Community Garden. You can usually find Mike at the rinks either coaching, refereeing, or watching his two boys play hockey when he isn’t at work.

“We’re absolutely delighted to partner with the City of Kingston,” says Mike Lee. “At Desjardins Insurance we’re passionate about the power of community, and we’re thrilled to support this incredible facility. This partnership underscores our dedication to fostering an active, healthy lifestyle and giving back to Kingston.”

The City of Kingston acknowledges that we are on the traditional homeland of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and the Huron-Wendat, and thanks these nations for their care and stewardship over this shared land.

Today, the City is committed to working with Indigenous peoples and all residents to pursue a united path of reconciliation.
