Collaborate on local climate solutions at the Kingston Climate Summit
This spring, the City of Kingston and ICLEI Canada are partnering to present the Kingston Climate Summit, with support from the Echo Foundation, Trottier Family Foundation and platinum sponsor Utilities Kingston.
The summit, hosted on June 4 and 5 at Queen’s University, will be an engaging two-day gathering designed to build collaboration and accelerate progress on local climate solutions. It will open with a keynote address from Brent Toderian, an internationally recognized city-planning consultant and advocate for building vibrant and sustainable cities.
Through dynamic sessions, deep dives into regionally relevant topics and powerful networking opportunities, participants will gain fresh insights, spark new connections and leave energized to drive collective action.
"The Kingston Climate Summit will bring together local businesses, industry professionals, community organizations and passionate changemakers to forge new connections and collaborate on local solutions,” says Julie Salter-Keane, Manager of Climate Leadership at the City. “We are pleased to partner with ICLEI Canada on this event to maintain the region’s momentum on climate resilience and adaptation initiatives.”
“ICLEI Canada is thrilled to be working with the City of Kingston to bring this exciting event to life,” says Ewa Jackson, Managing Director at ICLEI Canada. “The Kingston Climate Summit will provide an important space to explore the crucial role that collective action plays in responding to climate challenges at both the local and regional level.”
Earlier this year, the City of Kingston received funding from the Echo Foundation and the Trottier Family Foundation to support a locally hosted climate summit. The initiative will be delivered in collaboration with ICLEI Canada, whose expertise will help shape and implement the event. The funding and partnership were approved by City Council at its meeting on March 4.
At the Kingston Climate Summit, delegates will have the opportunity to learn, share and reflect on the work required to meet ambitious climate goals and support meaningful action at every level. Attendees will hear about regional climate initiatives across a variety of sectors through high-calibre sessions and immersive study tours in the community.
