Council

Our Council is a municipal decision-making group, consisting of a Mayor and twelve Councillors. The Mayor represents the city as a whole, while the Councillors represent the twelve districts within the city. Residents elect Council every four years.

Council actions directly impact residents and visitors. They make decisions about key municipal services such as water, road maintenance, family services, long-term care, the environment, recreation, transit, heritage, emergency services, and more.

The City of Kingston acknowledges that we are on the traditional homeland of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee and the Huron-Wendat, and thanks these nations for their care and stewardship over this shared land.

Today, the City is committed to working with Indigenous peoples and all residents to pursue a united path of reconciliation.
