Working Groups help staff develop programs and policies within specific subject areas. 

Members of the group can include:

  • Council members
  • City staff
  • Residents
  • Representatives from specific organizations or groups

The Francophone Working Group represents the interest of the Francophone community in Kingston.

The interests include:

  • Promoting existing French-language programming
  • Increasing access to City services in French
  • Examining City initiatives, events, and policies through a Francophone lens

The Working Group is made up of:

  • Council members
  • Residents of the Francophone community
  • Representatives from Francophone organizations in the Kingston area

The Post Secondary Working Group represents the interests of the town-gown community.

They examine issues like:

  • Housing
  • Community involvement
  • Health and safety
  • Public education

The group consists of:

  • Council members
  • City staff
  • Representatives from student government and administration at:
    • Queen’s University
    • St. Lawrence College
    • Royal Military College
  • Property managers

The Rural Economic and Community Development Working Group represents the interest of Kingston’s rural residents and businesses.

This includes:

  • Farms
  • Community
  • Business
  • Agricultural development

The Working Group consists of:

  • Countryside District Council member
  • One additional Council member
  • Rural residents
  • Rural agricultural residents
  • Rural business owners
