Amenities

Rideaucrest Home offers a range of amenities to enhance your comfort and convenience, all within our facility. You can visit the dentist, get a haircut or perm and handle your laundry needs without leaving the property.

Funded Services

Rideaucrest offers a wide range of funded services.

We have registered nurses, registered practical nurses and personal support workers available to provide hands on personalized care 24-hours per day.

We have a physiotherapist, physiotherapy assistants, and a restorative care aid dedicated to making sure each resident receives the physical therapy and support they need to achieve their personal goals.

All care staff are trained to provide residents with care focused on maximizing the quality of life while ensuring their specific wishes are met in death.

Rideaucrest Home has a medical director and attending physician who remain available to meet resident needs.

The Home's full time nurse practitioner works closely with each physician to oversee the individualized care provided to each Rideaucrest resident.

Rideaucrest Home provides a three-week seasonal menu cycle, including special themed meals for occasions like Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, New Year's and Thanksgiving. Additionally, residents choose a ‘Meal of the Month’ during the monthly residents' food council meetings.

Each floor has a bright central dining room with its own food service area. Residents are served three meals and three snacks daily. Weekly and daily menus are posted outside the dining room. Families can have a private meal in an alternate area by either bringing their own food or purchasing meal tickets in advance from the business office.

Our three-week menu cycle is designed to meet residents' nutritional needs. The menu offers a variety of foods from all food groups, including fresh seasonal options, in accordance with Canada's Food Guide.

Our home has a full time registered dietitian who monitors residents' nutrition. They make sure everyone gets the right diet and textures. The dietitian also finds and addresses any nutrition, diet or hydration risks.

We organize community church engagement within the facility and offer multi-faith services throughout the month. These services are scheduled and take place on resident floors or in our spiritual care centre on the lower level.

The residents' council remains active, holding meetings on a different floor each month to discuss resident preferences and concerns. We invite members of the leadership team to these meetings to gather resident input on decisions related to the Home.

Family council offers a supportive environment for the family members and loved ones of residents. It serves as a platform for sharing experiences and insights supported by the Home.

The Ministry of Health and Long-term Care mandates that the home maintains individual trust funds for its residents, simplifying access to their money without the need for a bank visit. We accept deposits in the form of cash or cheques.

Housekeeping and laundry services are available in the home every day of the week. Laundry is gathered from individual rooms, cleaned and returned within 48 hours. Additionally, for residents who prefer to do their own laundry, we offer laundry facilities on the lower level.

Rideaucrest Home provides guest WiFi internet services that residents can use at their convenience. Additionally, residents can purchase internet services through a service provider of their choice for individual use.

A Snoezelen room is a specially designed environment that offers controlled multi-sensory experiences. It is intended for individuals who may have difficulty participating in typical leisure activities. In this room, various sensory elements such as lighting effects, colours, sounds, scents and more are used to create gentle and therapeutic sensory experiences.

A visit from a dog or cat can truly brighten the day of an animal lover! At Rideaucrest Home, we understand the intrinsic value of these visits and the social interaction they bring.

To learn more about how to register your pet for a visit, please speak with our life enrichment staff. We have a process in place to ensure that pet visits go smoothly and safely.

Optional goods and unfunded services

The home offers optional goods and services to residents for an additional fee on top of the regular accommodation charges and the family must provide authorization. The rates for these optional services are determined by external providers.

The Kingston Access Bus and Kingston Transit buses stop right outside our front door. If a resident needs assistance with transportation coordination, please do not hesitate to ask one of our staff members.

Visitor parking is located beside the home, and there is short-term parking (up to three hours) at the front of the home. You can get pay-and-display tickets at the parking kiosk or purchase a monthly pass.

We have a hair salon conveniently situated on the lower level. Appointments for the salon can be made through the business office.

You can easily set up cable, telephone and internet connections through local service providers when you move into Rideaucrest. We offer a smooth process for transferring your home services upon admission to the facility.

Residents in need of specialized foot care services can easily access it by signing up through the business office.

Rideaucrest works with a local dental service to provide in-house services. Following admission, residents and family can reach out to this provider to arrange services.

Rideaucrest Home works seamlessly with our pharmacy service provider to ensure each resident has reliable access to the medications and treatments they require.
