Swim Lessons Volunteer
Complete your 40 hours of high school volunteer placement through our aquatics program. If you continue in this role, you can earn credits for leadership courses and get closer to becoming a certified lifeguard and instructor.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Assist instructor during swimming lessons (approx. 80% of time)
- Assist with setting up equipment used for lessons (approx. 5% of time)
- Review lesson plans (approx. 5% of time)
- Assist with activity and lesson planning (optional; approx. 5% of time)
- Assist with tidying up after lessons (approx. 5% of time)
Qualifications
- You must be a minimum of 13 years old for this position.
- You must hold a minimum of Bronze Medallion award certification. Bronze Cross and/or Assistant Swim Instructor certification is preferred.
- Comfortable in water; stroke demonstration skills are preferred.

- Criminal Record Check:
- For those under the age of 18, a Level 2 Criminal Record Check.
- For those over the age of 18, a Vulnerable Sector Check.
