Special Events Volunteer
Our Special Events team organizes a variety of events over the course of the year. We rely on the help of community volunteers on the day of these events to help bring them to life and make them a success. By volunteering for Special Events, you will be a key contributor to a vibrant, connected, culturally significant Kingston!
Key duties and responsibilities
- Information tent: general event information, lost and found, lost child (approx. 20% of time)
- Floater: check-in on other volunteers, cover breaks, step-in at busy attractions (approx. 20% of time)
- Attractions: assist at inflatables, rock-climbing walls, large games, etc. (approx. 20% of time)
- Set-up/Tear down: heavy lifting, setting up tents, tables, chairs, signs, and other event materials (approx. 20% of time)
- Attendance monitoring: counting attendees at entry points (approx. 10% of time)
- Other duties as assigned (approx. 10% of time)
Qualifications
- High school enrollment
- Experience working with the public
- Experience volunteering at other events
Other requirements
- You must be a minimum of 14 years or older for this position
- Ability to work at outdoor events in varying weather conditions
- You may be required to perform heavy lifting or remain on your feet for extended periods. If this is not feasible due to physical limitations, we can provide accommodations or assign alternate duties.
- Comfortable interacting with a diverse range of people
