Skating in the Square
The Springer Market Square rink is closed for the season.
Enjoy free skating at the outdoor ice rink in Springer Market Square! When in season, the rink is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.
You can find accessible public washrooms in the lower Market Wing of City Hall, accessible from both the north and south courtyards. There is an accessibility ramp at the north entrance off Brock Street to reach the lower-level wing. The washrooms are open every day from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There are no changing rooms available.
Why we shut the rink down sometimes after it opens
Our arena operators continuously monitor the ice conditions and measure its depth and hardness. If the ice surface becomes too thin due to factors such as sunlight, warm temperatures and precipitation, it risks cracking. A cracked ice surface requires the rink to be closed for repairs, which could take a few days. Instead, we may close the rink for a few hours to allow the ice surface to thicken and harden again.

The rink at Springer Market Square follows the same rules as public skating at any City rink.
